Pin Pilot

MM Pin Pilot is a Chrome extension that Philip Anders is building for members of Merch Mastermind, his print-on-demand community. It helps members share their own Amazon Merch t-shirt designs on Pinterest, the way Pinterest's guidelines describe.

How it works

The member installs the extension and signs in with the email they use for Merch Mastermind.
Pin Pilot looks at the member's own best-selling designs (from their own Amazon Merch account, inside their own browser) and drafts pins for them: a 1000 x 1500 image of the product, a title and a description, linking to the product page on Amazon.
The member connects their own Pinterest business account through Pinterest's official sign-in (OAuth).
The member reviews every drafted pin and chooses which ones to publish, and on which of their own boards. Nothing is published that the member has not individually chosen.
Pins the member has chosen are published through the official Pinterest API, a few per day, inside the member's chosen hours and with gaps between pins.

What Pin Pilot does not do

It never publishes a pin the member has not chosen.
It never scrapes Pinterest or automates the Pinterest website.
It does not store data from the Pinterest API. Boards are read live when the member picks one, and access tokens stay in the member's own browser.
It only creates pins for products the member sells, and every pin shows the actual product it links to.

Status

Pin Pilot is in development and is being tested with Merch Mastermind members.
